Description
Yathra represents the cycle of one day, metaphorically tracing a human being’s journey from the dawn of birth to the twilight of life. Yathra is a visual meditation of the human experience, exploring the spiritual and emotional passage of a soul through the many phases of life—birth, youth, love, loss, redemption, and death, completing the cycle with rebirth. Yathra is set to an original score played live by Shubhendra Rao, one of India’s most respected sitarists, and Saskia Rao-de Haas, considered a pioneer in the Indian music world for introducing an Indian cello she herself designed. With just these two instruments, they convey the fullness of an orchestra—a sound as evocative and rich as life’s journey. Concept and choreography by Ranee Ramaswamy and Aparna Ramaswamy.
