The O’Shaughnessy welcomes Kao Kalia Yang to its stage for a discuss on her first book:
The Latehomecomer:  A Hmong Family Memoir – a tribute to all the homes not founded in
place or time:  to the secrets of stories and their power to protect those who sought refuge and
found love lying in the wings of memory waiting to take flight—to that land of our eternal dreams.
It is the winner of two 2009 MN Book Awards:  for creative nonfiction/memoir and the Reader’s
Choice Book of the Year.  It is the winner of the Skipping Stones Book in Intercultural Writing,
the Gustavus Center’s Center for the Study of Human Right’s Notable Book and Honorable
Mention for Asian Award in Literature.
